I feel grateful every day to get to inspire students through music.
I started my teaching journey in 2016 in Decorah, Iowa, and I am currently teaching students out of my home studio in Louisville, Colorado. I view my role as an educator not only as a means to impart musical knowledge but also as an opportunity to cultivate discipline, creativity, emotional expression, and patience in my students. I teach a wide range of ages and abilities, and I strive to have each student learn a balance of structured/traditional pieces and the music that inspires them (Taylor Swift, Harry Potter, AC/DC . . . you name it!). There is no greater joy than witnessing my students play at a recital, knowing that I have supported them throughout their learning journey and encouraged them to do their best!

Every new student is highly encouraged to schedule a free 30 minute consultation with me at my studio (located in downtown Louisville CO). During this time, we’ll discuss your experience, your goals, materials you will need for lessons, and studio rules. This is a great chance for you to get comfortable with my studio space, and to get a glimpse of what piano lessons with me will look like.

Since everyone learns so differently, I vary my approach with each student in order to make the most progress. However, here is an example of what to expect in a piano lesson with me:
Warm up exercises and scales
In-depth instruction to help you with your current pieces
Focus on music theory through the use of worksheets and books
Discussion of your concerns, desires, and future goals
*I am a classically trained musician, so my teaching style reflects classical technique and repertoire.
